Event Photography For Awards
The Biz Photography was contacted by Vic-Tas Parks & Leisure to provide a professional photographer for an awards evening at Cape Schack RACV Resort on the Mornington Peninsula.
Pamela proposed that as well as photographing all of the action of the event, it was very important that we photograph each award winner in front of the sponsor’s banner with the award presenter.
I suggested that for the best results we should use our studio lighting. The Biz Photography has a portable studio lighting system that is easy to set up, takes up little space and runs on batteries. This type of lighting gives a much better result than just using an on-camera flash.
We were able to create images with consistent lighting across the sponsor’s banner and the subjects being photographed. Also, the specialist lighting added that extra ‘wow’ factor to the event.
The event was scheduled for 7pm and would run until around 10pm. Our professional photographer, Jai, arrived at 6pm to give himself plenty of time to meet Pamela and talk about how the evening was going progress, as well as getting briefed on any ‘must get’ photographs.
The early arrival also ensured there was plenty of time to set up the studio lighting, which generally takes around 15 minutes. Jai was able to engage with and photograph all of the event participants before the official proceedings started, capturing the anticipation and excitement that was building during pre-award drinks.
During the evening professional photographer Jai was able to meet and pose all of the award winners and presenters in front of the sponsor’s banner. The studio lighting helped highlight the professionalism of the event, delivering a wonderful, creative record of the awards night.
Between awards, Jai was able to use a completely seperate camera set-up to candidly photograph people enjoying the evening. This is typical of the way The Biz covers any event. We always have at least two cameras, making it easier to capture the varying colour and action unfolding at events that we are contracted to record.
Post production and delivery
This particular job was photographed on a Thursday night and Pamela contacted us early Friday saying the event had been a huge success and many of the award winners were already in contact to ask how they could access photos for their own use.
I’m just going to jump in here and say that using studio lighting at the event created the hype and sense of professionalism that prompted award winners to want to see their photos. This heightened level of professionalism creates somewhat of a ‘red carpet’ experience, adding excitement to the event.
We immediately concentrated on the post production of the award winners’ images and delivered them electronically, via drop box, to Pamela before the close of business on the same day.The remainder of the images were completed and sent early in the following week.
All images are kept on our drop box account free of charge for 12 months. This makes it easy to share image files with third parties as well as providing added security in case of any system failures.
Any event, large or small, is a great opportunity to show off your organisation to potential clients and it’s imperative that what they see leaves a lasting impression.
The Biz Photography has a team of professional photographers on the Mornington Peninsula and Melbourne south eastern suburbs ready to professionally photograph your next event.
